Where We’ve Been is a portrait of a mother and son reckoning with the passage of time, aging, and inevitable change. 

After 25 years of working in New York City, Maria Elena, an undocumented mother, and her son pursue the journey she once dreamed of: a series of day trips across the East Coast, a bittersweet farewell to their life together, as she prepares to start her life over in Colombia.
